Sewer Main Installation
The project involved installing a sewer main under a high-traffic highway using dual 600mm pipes. This innovative solution ensured compliance and long-term functionality while minimising disruption and maintaining road integrity.
The Challenge
A client required a 1200mm sewer main installed under a high-traffic VicRoads highway. Heavy congestion ruled out open-cut excavation and a single bore would have compromised road stability. To ensure structural integrity and regulatory compliance, an alternative, innovative installation method was required, minimising disruption while maintaining long-term functionality and safety for essential infrastructure.
Our Solution
To address structural concerns, we implemented a dual 600mm pipe installation with a grout-filled void for enhanced stability and load distribution. Additionally, we integrated a strategically placed collection pit, ensuring easy long-term maintenance access, reducing future disruptions and improving functionality for the sewer main system. This solution provided a safer, more efficient approach, minimising risks while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
The Result
The project was successfully completed within a month despite challenging rocky ground conditions. Our innovative solution provided a more cost-effective and structurally sound alternative, ensuring long-term stability and full compliance with regulatory standards. By minimising surface disruption and integrating a well-planned maintenance system, we delivered a durable and reliable sewer main installation that exceeded client expectations.
